SUKUMAR AZHIKODE (26 May 1926 – 24 January 2012) was an Indian writer, critic and orator, acknowledged for his contributions to Malayalam language and insights on Indian philosophy. He was a scholar in Sanskrit, Malayalam, and English languages. Azhikode was a bachelor and lived in Eravimangalam near Thrissur, Kerala, India. He died on 24 January 2012 at the age of 85 at Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, in Thrissur due to cancer.

ALUVA SIVARATHRI celebrated in ALUVA, ERNAKULAM, KERALA, INDIA  is called the Aluva Sivarathri festival which falls in February - March. Aluva Sivarathri is celebrated at the Siva temple on the banks of Periyar River and this place is called the Aluva Manal Puram (Land with sand). Pilgrims offer Bali (Sacrifice) to their ancestors in the morning succeeding the holy night. There will be a lots of stalls installed for people for purchasing, shopping, exhibitions, adventure rides for children and adults and lot more. It will remain for nearly one month after the offerings of Bali and this festival is celebrated as a remembrance for the lord Siva.

The Independence Day of India, celebrated on 15 August, is a holiday commemorating India's independence from the British rule  and its birth as a sovereign nation on 15 August 1947. India achieved independence following the Indian independence movement  noted for largely peaceful nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience led by the Indian National Congress. The Independence Day is a national holiday in India. The flagship event takes place in Delhi where the Prime Minister hoists the national flag at the Red Fort, followed by a nationally broadcast speech.  The day is observed all over India with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events. Citizens rejoice the day by displaying the national flag on their attire, household accessories, vehicles; varied activities such as kite flying, bonding with family and friends, and enjoying patriotic songs and films are seen.
